Finding the right therapist can be challenging, especially while managing mental health or navigating major life changes. I’m here to answer any questions you have and help guide you on the path to healing. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

DO YOU ACCEPT INSURANCE?

Yes, Charlotte Therapeutic Counseling is in-network with the following insurance providers:

  • UnitedHealthcare

  • Optum

  • Cigna

  • Aetna

  • Blue Cross and Blue Shield of NC

If you plan to use out-of-network benefits, I can provide an itemized superbill upon request. Copays and coinsurance will be charged 24 hours before each session.

HOW MUCH IS THERAPY OUT-OF-POCKET (WITHOUT INSURANCE)?

I strive to provide convenient and affordable counseling for clients in North and South Carolina.

 

Intake Session (First Session): $185

More Thorough Intake Session (1-1.5 Hours): $210

Subsequent Individual Sessions: $165

WHAT PAYMENT METHODS DO YOU ACCEPT?

I accept credit and debit cards only. For self-pay clients, I will charge the full session fee—as well as any copays or coinsurance—24 hours before your scheduled appointment using the automatic payment method you set up during your preliminary intake.

HOW WILL I KNOW IF YOU ARE THE RIGHT THERAPIST FOR ME?

In a successful therapy relationship, clients feel safe exploring all topics, even the most vulnerable ones. A good fit with a therapist means you can comfortably share a full range of emotions—laughter, tears, anger—while knowing your sessions are grounded in professionalism and thoughtful expertise.

WHAT HAPPENS IN THERAPY?

Therapy isn’t always easy. You may explore difficult topics or be encouraged to make challenging behavioral changes. Throughout this process, the relationship between us will always be grounded in respect and care. The goal is that you leave each session with a deeper understanding of yourself or your situation. While some topics may be tough to discuss, our conversations will always be handled with compassion and respect, creating a safe space for your growth and healing.

IS THERAPY FOREVER?

The frequency and length of therapy sessions are guided by your individual needs. Therapy is designed to support you through challenging times, and you’re encouraged to schedule sessions based on what feels most helpful. Many clients start with weekly sessions and gradually transition to monthly or as-needed appointments as they progress.

HOW LONG DOES EACH THERAPY SESSION?

Your first session will be an intake assessment, lasting 50–60 minutes. This session is the most comprehensive to help me understand your needs fully. If you prefer a more in-depth intake, you can request a longer session of 1 to 1.5 hours (an increased fee applies). Follow-up sessions typically last 45–50 minutes.
